Fostering Ecological Hope

Today again from Margaret Swedish:

And still, there is no greater threat to our survival, to the ecosystems and societal systems of this earth, than nuclear weapons.  So when I read this NY Times Op-Ed from Bob Herbert, a chill went down my spine (joining the tingle from my Wash. Post reading this morning - see earlier post).

Ecological Hope rests not only in dealing with the ecological crises we are facing — climate change (the new ‘hot age’), resource depletion, population growth, etc., — but also on ending war and weapons proliferation as a way of doing business in this world.  If Pakistan and India and China end up in a nuclear arms race, we are in grave trouble, folks.  And this current administration of ours has let this danger get way out of hand.

It is time to put a stop to this government-by-armageddon-along-with-incompetence-and-neglect that has been in charge these 6 and a half years.   This world is running out of time.

Ecological hope rests not only with our commitment to renew this earth, but to our commitment to peace.
