Fostering Ecological Hope

Today from Margaret Swedish:

Searching around for the latest action on climate change, I found this post on the DeSmogBlog (how can you not like the name?) regarding a suit being brought by climate scientists against the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the US Supreme Court arguing that the EPA is ‘mischaracterizing’ the reality of climate change, and therefore is not doing its job.

As you know, there is a well-funded disinformation campaign underway to attempt to debunk the science around the heating of the planet (too gently referred to as global warming).  This has added to the inertia within US agencies that should be addressing the looming crisis, begining to prepare the society for what it coming, making changes necessary to keep the worst from happening (the worst, remember, is a planet no longer habitable for current species, including our own).

You can find more information on the campaign of deception here.  A short history of the campaign is right here.

They have a lot of money.  But we have, or ought to have, a lot of people.  And that’s what we need to get mobilized.  We all pay taxes.  The EPA works for us.  We need to elect to office the kind of people that will make the EPA what it’s name actually means.
