Fostering Ecological Hope
Today from Margaret Swedish:

More bad news: January was the hottest ever recorded. The reason, say US climate scientists? Global warming.

Read about it here.

The unusual warming of the far northern hemisphere is especially alarming. Siberia was 9F warmer than usual. The Siberian permafrost holds within it billions of tons of methane and carbon dioxide and already these gases are bubbling out of the melting soil. This is one of those feedback loops most feared by climate scientists because of the potential to greatly accelerate the rate of warming.

Put this up alongside the arguments of oil, gas and coal industry executives, which we have talked about in our recent posts, and see what you think — about the ethics of this, about the need for action, about the need to change how we live.
