Today form Margaret Swedish:

Yesterday, a federal appeals court blocked efforts by the Bush administration to loosen tighter emission standards for coal-fired power plants, saying that the changes violated the Clean Air Act.

The court sided with 14 states that filed suit complaining that attempts to loosen standards set by Congress under the act were illegal and would increase the levels of harmful pollution in the atmosphere.

In attempting to alter the rules, in violation of US law, Bush was once again trying to give an economic break to the energy industry.  Coal companies have been major supporters of the Bush administration.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a government that cared first and foremost about the welfare of the people?
