Which is more depressing — the story I cite here, or how it was buried in the media?

The journal Nature has just released a new report indicating that methane gas is bubbling out of the melting permafrost faster than anyone knew previously.

Where did the story appear?  Well, one was buried in the Wash. Post’s ‘Findings’ column, as you can see here.  Another appeared at the bottom of page 22 in the NY Times.

The world is melting as the feedback loops scientists have feared are already manifesting — and this is all we get?

You know what?  We deserve better than this from our media.  We deserve persistent, comprehensive coverage of one of the most important stories in our history — the human-caused warming of our planet and the disasters to come if we don’t stop this — now.
