“Fast and furious” is how the fossil fuel industry grows, along with its vast destruction. So, too, does hope in direct response as more and more people come together to defend their ‘places,’ to sprout seeds of hope, those little weeds that grow through the cracks, break up the pavement, begin to make new creation. As these emergent groups take their stands in defense of nature, hope sprouts – all over the place.

Fast and furious…

The vast network of energy extraction and transshipment lines is being developed now at a fast and furious pace. There is intent here: to build it faster than people are able to become aware of what is being done to their communities, faster than they can organize. The fact that this is happening is proof of the effectiveness of the opposition. And that should encourage us to engage even more in the struggle to save the eco-communities in the places where we live.

The impacts on our natural world of our addiction to fossil fuels accelerate with every passing day.Humans, too, we are part of the natural world being impacted. “All of this destruction, really, is by popular demand, and I am part of that demand.” This situation grows urgent, and we all need to ramp our work to stop the destruction.
